Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to all NISD 5th graders.
Transportation is available for qualifying students.
What are the Requirements to Apply?
Students should live within Northside ISD and exhibit a history of good behavior and regular attendance.
When Can I Apply?
Applications are available from late November through mid January.
Notification letters will be mailed in late January.

Northside ISD Magnet Middle Schools Frequently Asked Questions
● Can I participate in sports?
○ Yes! Magnet school students can join the same sports teams as their peers on their host campus. Team sports are open to 7th and 8th graders, and 6th graders can participate in extracurricular activities including intramural sports.
● What electives can I choose?
○ Students in the magnet school programs will take a Career & Technology Education Magnet course in place of 6th grade advisory. In 6th grade, students will take a fine arts elective. In 7th and 8th grade, students have access to most of the same electives as their host campus peers, including art, band, choir, dance, and more. The middle school course catalog contains a complete list of the electives available to magnet students. ● Is transportation available?
○ Bus transportation is available to qualifying students. Buses typically pick up and drop off at elementary schools or middle schools near the student’s home address.
● What is the dress code?
○ The magnet school campuses follow the standard Northside dress code that applies to all secondary schools in the district.
● Who can apply?
○ Current 5th grade students who live within Northside ISD can submit an application to Northside’s magnet middle schools. Applicants should exhibit a history of good behavior and regular school attendance.
